Instagram Mysteries

I’ve been on Instagram for years now and there are a few things I don’t understand. Two of these “mysteries” have been bugging me for awhile and one of them just came to light recently.

The first one is why people insist on posting every photo they take all at once. I don’t need to see 43 different shots of the same tree clogging up my feed. Please if you feel the need to post them all put them in your story or a slideshow post.

Number two is why do people follow my account with no intention of interacting with my posts. These ghost followers just collect accounts to follow for no apparent reason. I see this like someone who collects artwork and then stuffs it in the closet never to see the light of day. I figure maybe some of these ghosts do have the best intentions and want to interact with my posts but the new algorithm never shows them in their feed.

The third and biggest mystery is the aforementioned algorithm. Who in the world thought this would be a good idea? The world we live in is chronological, especially in regards to the information we receive. Imagine going online to check the weather forecast for tomorrow and finding a forecast from last week. Or checking for the latest news and seeing a story from last month we thought you might like.

In my opinion the new algorithm does not promote interaction between users it deters it. I am much more likely to comment or dm a person who has just posted rather than one who posted 7 hours ago.

What do you think about any of these? Leave a comment and let me know.
